MVHS National Honor Society Erases School Lunch Debt!

Our MVHS National Honor Society stepped up to help our students by addressing unpaid lunch debt. Our school’s outstanding balance was $4,615.10. It is now $0! In Marana Unified School District, students in grades K–8 may accrue lunch debt that follows them into high school. However, beginning in 9th grade, students are not allowed to purchase meals until this debt is cleared—limiting access to breakfast and lunch for many who need it most.

Thus, as one of their community service projects, NHS students organized multiple fundraising events connecting with fellow students, parents, and community members to ensure that every Mountain Lion has access to regular meals and can focus on learning, not lunch debt. Thank you so much to the outpouring of community support that enabled the NHS to relieve many families of this debt.
