MVHS Students to Participate in National Spanish Exam
The World Languages Department is excited to announce that 94 students have registered to participate in the annual National Spanish Exam (NSE), organized by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP). The NSE is the largest exam of its kind in the United States and serves as an online, motivational competition designed to recognize and promote students' linguistic skills and proficiency in Spanish.
Last year, 92 students took part in the exam, earning 3 silver medals, 3 bronze medals, and 19 honorable mentions. Participation in the NSE also gives students the opportunity to apply for exclusive scholarships.
Additionally, the NSE is now an approved assessment for fulfilling the Foreign Language requirement to qualify for the Arizona Seal of Biliteracy, provided students place in the top three percentiles.
This year’s exam will take place on March 27, 2025, in the library. All participating students must bring their Chromebooks and a set of headphones. If a student does not have headphones, they will be provided.
Students are reminded to arrive at the library by 8:20 AM to ensure a smooth check-in and setup process. As a special treat, the Spanish Club will be providing pan dulce and beverages for those who arrive early.
If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Venegas at a.z.venegasmena@maranausd.org or speak with your Spanish teacher.
